COMPUTEX 2018 Opens today and announces ASUS as the Winner of the Best Choice of the Year Award

B2B ICT trade show, COMPUTEX TAIPEI opens today in the Nangang Exhibition Hall
1. The ceremony was started with speeches from the Vice President of Republic
of China, Chen Chien-jen; the Chairman of Taipei Computer Association, T.H.
Tung; the Chairman of Taitra, James C.F. Huang; Minister of the Ministry of
Economic Affairs, Jong-Chin Shen; and the Deputy Director-General, Internal
Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship, and SMEs Directorate General (DG GROW),
European Commission, Antti Peltomäki. Joining the opening ceremony were more
than 250 delegates, dignitaries, and exhibitors’ representatives.
The chairman of
TCA, TH Tung stressed the importance of Taiwan's ICT industry, which is vital
in making Taiwan a partner to international companies. It is also the top
contributor for Taiwan's economic development as 40% of Taiwan’s export is from
the ICT industry. It is the industry that can connect Taiwan to the world.
Chairman Tung
stated that the ICT industry has built a strong base in semiconductors,
computers, internet, and mobile devices. In the future there will be more
innovative solutions such as AI, IoT, IoV, blockchain, and fintech. He
concluded that ICT industry is constantly changing humans’ lives &
productivity and accelerate the global economic development. As a response to
the growing ICT trends, the main topics of COMPUTEX this year will be AI,
Blockchain, Gaming & VR, 5G, and IoT.
The startup
special exhibition, InnoVEX has started since 3 years ago and this year the
number of exhibitors has hit a record high of 388 startups from 21 countries.
More than 60 speakers and 200 global investors will join InnoVEX for 3 days of
exhibition, forums, matchmaking events, demo, pitch, and more.
In addition to
holding the opening remarks, the winner of the highest honor of Best Choice
Award, the Best Choice of the Year was announced. The winners of the Best
Choice Golden Award were handed their trophies by the Vice President during the
ceremony.
