E Ink Driver IC with Dynamic and Interlaced Scan by AI Computing Awarded for Best Choice Of COMPUTEX 2022

E Ink (8069.TWO), the leading innovator of electronic ink technology, announced E Ink Driver IC with Dynamic and Interlaced Scan by AI Computing. The new driver IC aims to improve handwriting speed on ePaper, and reduce power consumption. It is particularly helpful in ePaper eNote applications, furthermore it can also be widely adopted in many applications enabled by monochrome or color ePaper.

Dynamic Scan - Improving handwriting speed

Given the nature of ePaper, it takes longer to respond image change. Fast writing speed is crucial in eNote application, E Ink developed this Driver IC with dynamic scanning function, offering a average reduction of 5.6ms in pen writing latency. Making writing on ePaper truly like writing with a pen on traditional paper.

Interlaced Scan - Reducing power consumption

Color ePaper utilizes color dithering to enhance color gamut performance, however the dithering process consumes more power than monochrome ePaper. E Ink developed the interlaced scan function to lower power consumption and prolong device’s battery life. AI algorithm was developed and embedded on the driver IC to optimize interlaced scan function. This results in a 40-60% power reduction when displaying color images.

E Ink is a full reflective display technology, it uses ambient light to display images and is very low power consumption. Now with this driver IC featuring 40%-60% power reduction, E Ink enabled devices can be even more power efficient, helping partners and end users achieve the sustainability goal of Net Zero Carbon Emissions.
